Brough is a traditional crofting & fishing village, well that was true until the late 20th century when the cheviot and the milk cow gradually made way for horses, commuters and the retired.
Fortunately there are still a couple of herds of Highland cows in the village and there are a few hardy folk who cut the peats on Dunnet Head, but there is just one boat that ventures out from Brough harbour to catch the might cod in the Pentland firth

There is 100 years of history in the archive, if you are new to Brough than it would be a good idea to watch the Brough DVD or look through the Brough Book.
